Vitamin D and Your Performance

We are all athletes. Just because we may not play sports life in itself is a series of athletic events.

An article recently published showed us that athletes with optimal levels of vitamin D are less likely to sustain injuries. The article also shows that those with higher serum levels of vitamin D improve muscle strength and overall sports performance.

Our bodies make vitamin D from the sun. Up north our vitamin D levels drop in the winter without a daily exposure to sunlight. There are supplements we can take but many foods we eat contain vitamin D as well. Wild caught fish, mushrooms, almonds are just a few things that are natural in vitamin D. Many dairy products are fortified with vitamin D however finding foods that are natural in vitamin D is the best solution.
